I look forward to working with you and your child this school year. I believe that your child is on the best team at EWMS. We work together as a team to make sure your child is successful.
Middle school in itself is a very difficult time for students, but 6th grade sometimes seems to be exceptionally hard. Our goal is to make sure that your child has the skills and ability to continue with their education and be successful. Even if your child tells you that they are in the 6th grade and they do not need you to check behind them daily that is not so. They need you now more than ever.
We are with your children sometimes more waking hours than you are and I want you to know that we will do everything possible to teach, love, and nurture your child during the time they are in our care.
We do not always agree with the students choices and we do have occasional when they need to be redirected. Please understand that if your child is discipline in some way during their time at school it is done with love and good intentions. We are not always seen as the nice guy here at school but our students know we love them. It takes an entire community to keep students focused. Our desire is for your child to be as successful as possible.
I teach math and I understand that there are parents that have not taken math in several years or were not really great at it when you were in school. That is okay. There are many ways that you can help your child in math by making sure you check their agenda daily and make sure they work on their accelerated math every night for at least 15 minutes. Make them bring home their math notebook every night so that you can review their notes and examples with them.
We want you to be a part of our team. If you don not understand something please feel free to email or call us and set up an appointment for a conference we will be glad to meet with you. If suddenly something changes in your child's life that could affect their behavior or academic progress, please share these things with us so that we will be able to be sensitive to your children need.
When you teach close to 100 students each day, it is hard sometimes to catch everything that is wrong. We have a lot of fun and exciting things planned for this school year and we thank you for your support!!
