8th Grade Social Studies

Course Overview:

U.S. History from the Colonial Period up to the Modern Era. 

We will be crafting student centered interactive notebooks to support and enhance learning. It will feature both teacher generated notes and student produced charts, graphics, tables, maps, drawings, and foldables.

Textbook:

United States History
Houghton, Mifflin. Harcourt ISBN: 978-0-544-45414-9

We have a limited amount of books, not enough for each student to have an assigned copy. Textbooks will be available for checkout on request. as long as extra copies are available.  Notebooks should provide students with everything they need to prepare for exams.

Homework Policy:

If classwork is not finished before end of period, it becomes Homework due next school day.
Work is expected on or before due dates. Late work will be charged a penalty of 15% per day, after 3rd day a failing mark will be given. Extra time will be given for excused absences but must have a note from home.   


Projects:


One or two projects per grading period may be expected. These are separate from homework assignments.
