Mrs. Holland

If someone had asked me when I was in the sixth grade what I wanted to be when I grew up, probably the last answer I would have given would be "Home Economics Teacher." The irony is the path to  becoming a Family and Consumer Science teacher  has made me  the unconventional and successful teacher I am today.  After brief stints majoring in French,  psychology, and completing Fashion Merchandising and Design I was unsure of my choices.  I wisely decided to stay an extra year in college, adding an education degree with intentions of becoming a Vocational Teacher.

Any way you look at it is was an unexpected choice for an high school student who used elective choices for math, journalism, and French and who would have rather "been caught dead" than in a Home Ec. class. Having said that, I LOVE teaching and helping students become confident in their strengths, while acknowledging and addressing areas they may need to improve.  I use what I have experienced to help my students better prepare themselves for their future. I emphasize good character, making wise decisions, and finding individual strengths and skills to achieve success.
